This piece is dedicated to Biff and Gorgonzola – two wonderful pet betta fish that I had the absolute privilege of befriending. My love for these fish has been cemented in previous music I have written over the years. Upon their passing, I thought it would be a great testament to compose a requiem introit in their honor. The music uses various snippets of material found in two other pieces I dedicated to Biff and Gorgonzola while they were still alive – Biff and Diary of a Loving Fish Sitter, respectively. As an homage to the many, many requiems that have been written before this one, the piece also hints at a few famous movements from requiems found throughout classical music history. Enjoy!
